True Happiness

We found that no Australian woman can be truly happy unless they can parade on the beach in their shorts or in their bathers with their beautiful legs. Our aim is to make this possible. We are not obsessed with treating varicose veins as different diameter pipes. Our main preoccupation is the final result and we never forget how grateful our patients will be if they can dispose of their long heavy trousers and once again show their legs.

Side-effects of Sclerotherapy

I have noticed that amongst patients presenting to my clinic and formerly treated by sclerotherapy, in addition to numerous serious side-effects, a large proportion of patients were covered with brownish linear and circular spots sometimes causing complete disfiguration.

I see patients coming from elsewhere begging me to remove brown spots, scars or even active ulcers. These side-effects of sclerotherapy are extremely difficult to treat but we occasionally have some success.

Sclerotherapy can be extremely dangerous. It has been proven beyond any doubt that injected sclerosant especially in the form of foam travels further from the area it was injected to the deep veins, damaging delicate valves and rendering them incompetent. That in turn is the beginning of endless trouble like heavy swollen legs which, over the years, change their shape and their colour.

Sclerosant does not remain in the area where it was injected but after causing "havoc" in the deep veins, it advances further to the lungs, sometimes causing pulmonary emboli then onto the heart and the brain. Cases of anaphylactic shock, strokes and even sudden death were reported in medical literature. I know about four cases of leg amputation one of them in Sydney Australia as a result of incorrectly performed injections.

Sclerotherapy is too risky to even be considered as a form of treatment. A lot of scientifically based research should be made in universities on the influence of sclerosants, especially foam sclerosants as it penetrates to every single tissue of the body. We know that it might affect eyesight and give very severe migraines, dizziness and confusion. We have to know how sclerosants affects higher brain function including intelligence.

It has to be investigated, how foam sclerosant affects muscle power, how it affects human fertility and generally human sexuality after penetrating to the testicles and ovaries. We cannot omit influence of sclerosant bubbles penetrating to the coronary arteries and causing damage to the lining of the small arteries. What about the liver, pancreas and other organs!

After reading my notes any Sclerotherapist will have a lot of hesitation before treating his own varicose veins with sclerotherapy.

It is my deep conviction that there is no place for sclerotherapy in the modern treatment of varicose and spider veins.
